ARTIST STATEMENT

The act of touching, of being touched, of handling, or being handled, are all attempts of the senses to gather or disperse information through the surface of what we think we know there is. The surface informs us how to experience and how to assign meaning. And meaning effects how we experience the surface. We cannot live without meaning, but meaning cannot exist out of context and the surface often is the context. But if meaning is an absolute artifice, is context itself then also not imagined? And experience, which may seem the most real of all, is just an illusion of it all coming together…
