ARTIST STATEMENT
Blossoms address issues of individual identity traits through the portrayal of botanical units and their patterns. Identity trait patterns may be disposable or essential, learned or inherent, repetitive or unique. The nature of these patterns can be psychological, emotional, physical, spiritual, or intellectual, but they so often manifest a lot of what they are through visual means. This decoration informs us about what a particular entity “is” both as an individual and as a member of a group or environment. This visual manifestation may or may not be reliable, but often, especially in the age of missinformation, it is the only accessible source. This body of work consists of several small series of mixed-media Blossoms (usually around ten pieces) each exploring a particular trait.
